What is the claim about?

Microtargeting
X uses a political microtargeting system that evaluates particularly sensitive data in order to influence users with tailored messages. This includes data on sexuality, political views, physical and mental health and religious attitudes. In this way, it creates a digital manipulation architecture that makes people susceptible to demagogic narratives, undermines democratic processes and deliberately reinforces social polarization. The result of this subversive attack on democracy is the worldwide strengthening of authoritarian regimes.

Data leaks
Between January 2022 and January 2023, four data breaches occurred at X, resulting in the personal data of hundreds of millions of users being leaked onto the Dark Web. During these incidents, X failed to take appropriate security measures and did not adequately follow up on the data breaches (by informing the authorities and affected users properly). X's inability or unwillingness to adequately protect its users' personal information, putting millions of people at risk of identity theft, targeted manipulation, and government surveillance.

Privacy violation
X engages in extensive secret tracking of its users - not only on its own platform, but also via third-party sites. The data collected is used for advertising purposes and to create comprehensive personality profiles without the data subjects being informed of this in a transparent manner or their effective consent being obtained. Consumers therefore have no control over the extent to which information about their usage behavior is used to monitor or manipulate them or over the disclosure of this data to third parties.
